Information We Collect
When you create a FamilyBooks account, we collect basic account information including your name and email address. This is the minimum we need to identify you and keep your account secure.
We also store the documents, records, and family information you choose to add to your vault. This is the core of the service — your data, organized and protected.
Finally, we collect anonymized usage analytics to understand how people use FamilyBooks so we can improve the experience. This includes things like which features are used most often and general navigation patterns — never the content of your vault.
How We Use Your Information
Your account information is used to provide and maintain the FamilyBooks service — authenticating your identity, managing your subscription, and enabling secure sharing with family members you designate.
Anonymized usage data helps us improve the product. We study patterns in how families organize their information so we can make the experience simpler and more intuitive.
We may occasionally use your email address to communicate important service updates, security notifications, or information about your account. You can opt out of non-essential communications at any time.
What We Never Do
We never sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone. Your family's information is not a product.
We never use artificial intelligence to read, analyze, or process your data. No algorithms scan your documents. No machine learning models train on your family's information. Your vault is seen only by the people you authorize — and no one else.
We never share your information with third parties. Your data stays within FamilyBooks. We do not provide access to outside companies, partners, or services.
Data Security
All data stored in FamilyBooks is encrypted at rest using AES 256-bit encryption — the same standard trusted by banks and government agencies worldwide.
Every connection to FamilyBooks is protected with TLS 1.3, the latest transport layer security protocol. Your information is encrypted in transit between your device and our servers.
We support multi-factor authentication to add an additional layer of protection to your account. We strongly recommend enabling it for all users.
Your Rights
You have the right to access all information stored in your FamilyBooks account at any time. Your data is always available to you.
You can export a complete copy of your data at any time, in a standard format, with no restrictions. Your information is never locked in.
You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time. When you ask us to delete your data, we delete it — fully and permanently.
Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your FamilyBooks account remains active. We keep it safe and accessible so your family can rely on it when they need it.
If you choose to close your account or request data deletion, we will remove all of your information from our systems. Deleted data cannot be recovered.
